ABOUT DOUG

​

Doug Melbourne is a musician, writer, media consultant and actor. At a young age,  he appeared in BBC's multi award winning "I Claudius" with John Hurt and Derek Jacobi,  playing the part of Gemellus, joint emperor with Caligula. He also had a number of appearances on the West End stage including "Cause Celebre" at Her Majesty's Theatre in the Haymarket with Glynis Johns

 

He then focused on music - playing in bands of all kinds (including UK Blues band The Guvnors, headlining Ealing Blues festival for several years) writing and recording music for TV including "The Bill", BBC's "The Paras" and "That's Life".

In 1994 he founded the tribute band ReGenesis, the UK's most acclaimed  recreation of Peter Gabriel era Genesis, featuring on Channel 4 as well as listed in MOJO magazine's 'Top Ten Tribute Bands'. The have toured with great success in the UK and Europe.  Doug described the trials and tribulations of playing in a band in his highly acclaimed book "How Much Do We Get for This Gig Anyway".

 

From this band emerged a collaboration with Doug and Regenesis lead singer and recording artist Tony Patterson, and together they have recorded three albums - "The Divide", "Dark Before Dawn" and "We've Been Expecting You".

"Lost and Found" is Doug's first solo album, incorporating his many influences - Jazz, Prog Rock, Synthwave and classical music can all be heard in this diverse collection of songs.

​

Doug lives with his wife Carrie (herself an accomplished musician whose credits include Mike Oldfield, Tricky and Babylon Zoo) in Wiltshire, dividing his time between writing, making music, consulting and cooking. He is very active on social media with a mixture of rants, movie, book and TV reviews, and other humorous posts.
